When is Drainage Needed?
Drainage works are rarely ordered in advance — most clients contact us when water starts causing problems on site. In most cases, these are the typical signs.
Basement and garage are damp, and water collects in spring
Lawn becomes waterlogged and turns yellow
Paths and paving sink and shift
Walls around the foundation become damp, salt marks appear
Soil stays muddy for weeks, vehicles get stuck

If you notice two or more of these signs, water is already damaging your site and will not disappear on its own.

Where Does the Water Come From?
The type of drainage is chosen based on the source of water, not the budget. In many cases, both types are needed at the same time.
From Above
Surface Water
Rain, snow and irrigation water collect on the surface. It must be removed quickly to prevent soil erosion, waterlogging of paths and lawns.

From Below
Groundwater
Water that sits high in the soil. It is not visible on the surface, but it damages foundations, rots plant roots and causes paths to sink.

We refill trenches and restore all surfaces: the lawn is either reseeded or replaced as before, and paving and paths are reinstated to their original condition. During the survey, we show you exactly where digging will take place and what will be affected.
Sometimes yes — if water only pools in one spot and drains away within a day or two. But if water remains for weeks every spring, it will damage foundations and plant roots. In this case, a seasonal issue quickly becomes a permanent problem.
Water is diverted either to a rainwater drainage system, a soakaway chamber, or a lower point outside the site — whichever is available. This is determined during the survey, as the whole scheme depends on the discharge point.
Once a season, the pipes should be flushed and the grates and sand traps cleaned — otherwise blockages can occur and the system will not function properly. This is included in our maintenance service.
